論文摘要:

This study explores the application of systems thinking in early childhood education. Drawing inspiration from the emphasis placed by the United Nations on systems thinking, as well as its incorporation into Taiwan's 108 Curriculum Guidelines, this paper employs an action research methodology focusing on 5-year-old children in kindergarten settings. A curriculum for sustainable systems education tailored to preschool children is developed, utilizing digital storytelling as the instructional tool. Within the curriculum, teachers and children utilize digital media, with sustainability-themed story book as the context, and systems thinking education as the content, aiming to enhance children's agency and problem-solving abilities during the course.

The study aims to cultivate children's ability to perceive environmental changes from a macroscopic perspective and introduces age-appropriate concepts of systems thinking, such as behavior over time graphs, linear behavior, and feedback loops, employing visualized charts to assist children in constructing mental models.

Results indicate that 5-year-old children demonstrate elevated levels of engagement and imagination compared to traditional storytelling methods within digital storytelling sessions. Regarding systems thinking, children demonstrate a deeper understanding in stories through the analysis of charts.

The findings of this study contribute to the integration of systems thinking into early childhood education, providing empirical evidence to foster the development of children's problem-solving abilities.
